Paintless Dent Repair: What Is It & Is It Right for Your Car?
PDR is the gold standard for dent removal — but how does it actually work? We explain the process, what damage it can fix, and when it's the right choice for your vehicle.
Paintless Dent Repair (PDR) is a technique where trained technicians use specialised metal rods and tools to gently massage a dent back to its original shape from behind the panel — without ever touching the paintwork.
It works best on dents where the paint is still intact — such as hail damage, door dings from car parks, shopping trolley marks and minor body panel dents. As long as the metal isn't creased and the paint isn't broken, PDR is usually the perfect solution.
The result is a dent completely gone — no filler, no respraying, no colour mismatch, and no reduction in your car's resale value. Most PDR jobs are completed within 1–2 hours on your own driveway.
